ART101 Week 2 Discussion 1 Questions Art Historians Ask

When the questions come up about art, Historians are trying to gain or create knowledge for the art piece. Personally, to me I feel that it would be a good help to the tourist who are coming to the museums to see all the different types of art pieces and or sculptures. Tourist would want to know how old the art or sculptures is, what is the meaning of the work of art , and also who made it ? Different types of art have different styles to them all and if I was the one visiting those are things I would want to know especially if I am purchasing art pieces.

The two questions that I chose for the art in chapter seventeen was: What is itsĀ  subject ? , and who made it ? The art I picked was from the art of Chicago .Ā  Miller, S. J. (n.d.). Frederick Douglass. Retrieved from https://www.artic.edu/artworks/145681/frederick-douglass?page=2 .Ā  a picture of Frederick Douglass .Ā  https://www.artic.edu/artworks/145681/frederick-douglass?page=2 . To answer the questions that I chose WhatĀ  is its subject ? The subject of the picture was democratic art of Fredrick Douglas who was a slave who had become a abolitionist. The second question was who made it?Ā  An American author by the name of Samuel J. Miller.
