ART101 Week 4 Discussion 1 Movements in Art

The time period during the late Medieval was between 1200 and 1400 . During 1200-1300 the leading painters the leading painters worked with the style Italo- Byzantine or the manlera greca . Their was a father and son who represented two contrasting sculptural styles. Dealing with religious which represented the classical and the gothic. Around 1300- 1400 Florence and Giotto considered the first renaissance artist. ā€œIn Siena , Duccio softens the maniera greca and humanizes religious subject matter .ā€ (Kleiner2017) During the late medieval times of art the Western world covers a vast scope of art in Europe . Included major art movements and period s , national and regional art , genres , revivals , and the artist themselves .

Medieval art was produced in many media , and works of art survived in large numbers of sculptures , illuminated manuscripts , stained glass ,and mosaics . In the social and political factors art grew in Europe out of artistic vantage of the Roman Empire . During the migration period after the fall of Constantinople in 1204 the influence od Italian painting by the style . Also it precipitated a migration of Byzantine artist to Italy .

Finally , their was other great events that took place in the late Medieval times . To name a few events that took place was renaissance humanism , Giotto , Arena chapel , and many more great events and art that came about .Ā
