ART101 Week 4 Discussion 2 Movements Reflected in Art Work

A picture that I chose was a picture of a portrait of Pierre-Auguste Renoir . The author painted the picture around the Impressionist movement in 1867 around the 19th century . The author was a french painter who was killed in action during the Franco-Prussian War, cutting short a promising career. He came from a wealthy family and had given generous financial support to Monet and Renoir who was great friends growing up .

During the impressionist time, four different characteristics that took place around that time there were many ideas of what constituted modernity. Part of the Impressionist idea was to capture a split second of life, an ephemeral moment in time on the the impression and the Impressionists sought to capture the former ,the optical effects of light to convey the passage of time, changes in weather, and other shifts in the atmosphere in their canvases. There was a lot of more significant things that happen during that time . Also a lot of paintings was painted by French painters around that era in time and the paintings was mainly oil based with vibrant colors .
