Overview of the Organization
The SWOT analysis was performed on an online grocery delivery business. The organizational structure has been developed around the core functions and operations are currently underway. However, departments are not yet fully independent from executive management and there are a number of movable parts yet to be concluded on. SWOT analysis is fundamental in informing the organization on its internal and external environment, which aid executive management in formulating and developing the strategic plans for the organization.
Factors Affecting the Direction of HR.
Previously, HR had been conceived as simply hiring new employees are need arose and letting go of employees as deemed necessary by management. This led to additional responsibilities of Public Relations being added so as to keep employment costs low for the two functions. However, having conducted SWOT analysis, I can begin to see additional responsibilities of a HR that can enable organization achieve its overall objectives. The human capital management required for the organization will be essential if resources, capabilities, core competencies are to be effectively utilized to create competitive advantages. Also, HR will be critical in aligning organizational need for human capital in the future with the expected developments and future implications in organizationās operations. The extended scope means that they will create more value for the organization instead of the simple cost savings previously envisioned
How can HR be involved as a Strategic partner in addressing the results of SWOT.
HR will be key to creating strategic links between Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to achieve strategic objectives as follows:
A] Strategies that use strengths to make use of opportunities
B] Strategies that use strengths to overcome or avoid threats
C] Strategies that take advantage of opportunities to avoid weaknesses
D] Strategies that minimize the effect of weaknesses and avoid threats
For example, HR is in a position to use particular strengths such as organizational culture to reduce the threat of employee turnover and cost by insisting to all employees on the importance and benefits of Strong organizational structure. Also, HR will be required to reduce managerial bureaucracy by creating standards in communication within the organization converting it into a strength.
