In the activity, I choose Lucy for the post of Administrative Assistant. This is mainly because she can become a great asset to Top Gun Merchandising department. The fact that she is currently undertaking a BA in Business Administration indicates that she is getting the latest and relevant practices in management and administration.
The five benefits packages selected for Lucy are as follows:
A] Bonuses; Lucy strives to exceed expectations. As such, she should be rewarded upon meeting and exceeding expectations as well as reasonable compensation for the extra hours she contributes to the organizationās activities. This is likely to motivate other employees to improve
B] Flexible Work Schedule: Lucy is still attending a local college, which would demand particular flexibility for her school contact hours. However, she has excellent time management skills and is able to effectively juggle priorities without compromising on quality.
C] Retirement & 401k: Lucy is approaching thirty and I am optimistic that with her skillset and qualities, she could become a critical member of the organization in the future. As such, Top Gun must strive to acquire and keep such talent. A saving, investment or retirement benefit will reduce the chances of her leaving prematurely.
D] Health Insurance: It is important to provide for health insurance to Lucy not just because of her health but because at her age and the fact that she is single, the benefits of insurance may not be known to her and she may neglect her physical well-being. The premiums may also not be as high since she is the sole beneficiary of the coverage and can be classified as low-risk
E] Tuition Reimbursement: Well, Lucy is pursuing her second field in Business administration after an associate degree in Psychology. However, she appears motivated to career development. It is important to offer her tuition reimbursement so that she is attracted to remain with Top Guns after completion. Further, since she can undergo formal managerial training and development [maybe after 5 years], then the same should apply.
What this means is that with Lucy, we could get an efficient and effective, long-term employee in the organization who can improve organizational culture and re-define the role of Administrative assistant within the organization as a stepping stone to administrative responsibilities. As such the benefits package is designed to create a lasting relationship.
