BUS303 Week 4 Discussion 1 Employee Performance and Appraisal Exercise
Hello class, My five competencies that I chose for this performance appraisal, which are directly related to my responsibility as a human resource professional include: 1. Business Acumen 2. Accountability 3. Decision Making & Judgement 4. Job Knowledge 5. Organizational Skills The above competencies go together with my daily job duties, while striving to improve the human resource sector through constant innovation and research. I believe that the HR sector should relate more with the daily interactions of employees, and as such, a performance appraisal that captures all aspects of both the business and the employees is necessary. With the changing work environment, more emphasis is now on the staff satisfaction and motivation, which in turn leads to better performance of the business. In this contemporary world, more staff feel like they need to be included in company operations to feel as part of the winning team. Like Boxall explains, the challenge is to build a theory of how organisations can meet their needs for profit and renewal while supporting employee fulfilment and well-being over the long-run (Boxall, 2014). For this reason, I chose the above to help bridge both the gap between management and employees, while still putting into the right perspective the organizational objectives. First and foremost, when an employee understands the way an organization works, the mission and vision of the company and his or her role towards the realisation of the same. Getting to know what to achieve and in what timelines helps both the employee and the organization to realise the various goals and objectives set for growth. As an employee, being reliable to both colleagues and supervisor or the management is necessary for any companyās growth. This appraisal therefore captures how much an employee is ready and willing to give towards the realisation of company objectives. The ability to make quick and informed decisions also contributes to how an employee and management resolve issues. The appraisal therefore tests how organized, self-aware and responsible an employee can be in time of need.
