BUS303 Week 5 Discussion 2 The Future of HRM

The emerging trend that I will discuss is advancement in technology in organization management. Technology has come a long way over the years and has many effects on human resources and the different areas that pertain to human resources like recruiting, developing, and performance management. Technology helps many people with different task that they do every day and is key in the workplace. Technology can improve the accuracy of planning in management by providing your managers with the data they need to make effective decisions. Technology solutions gather data from internal and external sources, store them in a data warehouse and provide managers with access via a network. Collaboration tools enable your managers to work together to plan operations and make joint decisions. Managers and HR professionals have the ability to pull reports, do their hiring, get statistics, and reach more people. Most companies rely on technology and the internet to do their staffing. Youssef states, ā€œThe new online network has changed how employers and job seekers find one anotherā€ (2015, para 1). Years ago, everything was done differently, we used paper application, and face to face interviews. Now, almost all applications are handled online and then notified through email if they are selected to go further in the hiring process, or if they are not qualified. Face to face interviews still happen but now there are options, interviews can be done over the phone or even on skype. Job postings can not only be on websites but at my organization we do direct hires through Face Book post. It cuts the process down extremely to where we can choose an applicant who submits a resume through that post. Technology has definitely made the hiring process faster, efficient, and easier for all involved. As for performance management, technology has advanced in this area tremendously. A lot of training can now be done on a computer, laptop, or tablet.
