BUS308 Assignments Week 3 - Discussion 1

Hello all,

This week’s lecture has exposed me to quite a whole range of new information. I have previously come across both ANOVA and chi-square tests but to stay that I did know what each does would a blatant lie. If I was to interpret ANOVA, I would have entirely relied on the name and assumed that it only compares variance for groups. I also got to know the difference between ANOVA and chi-square, with ANOVA using difference in variance between the entire data set and the average variance of the groups while chi-square uses patterns.This first lecture, was quite informative and I now have more information than before.

I still have questions over the fact that we largely rely on assumptions, like in the case of ANOVA where it assumes that each sample is normally distributed. Also, I am not really sure whether I fully understand chi-square but am hopeful I will get to understand in due course.

Chi-square introduces a whole new aspect which produces a more meaningful analysis since it makes it possible to consider other variables. This therefore, would be more useful in Business Administration since it puts into consideration both the dependent and independent variables.
