Hello class,
This lecture was a bit complicated for me. Setting up the chi-square test was pretty easy as compared to the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). In the case of ANOVA, setting up a single factor test is a bit straight forward for me. I understand the output table that displays the different groups and compares the count, sum, average and variance. The part where I don’t follow however, is where we are showing how the values have been arrived at, the A-B, C-D table. I find this confusing because the output is actually not in it’s simplest form for the purposes of drawing inferences. As for the formulae used, I can at least make head or tail of it.
Again, I used years of experience in my analysis as I did in week 2. I had groups A to D;
A < 1 year,
B =1-2 years
C = 3-5 years
D= 6-10 years.
The p-value was < 0.05. Therefore I rejected the null hypothesis, meaning that at least one one of the means differed.
While I managed to handle this, ANOVA is still not entirely clearly to me but hopefully, I’ll get a deeper understanding as time progresses.
