BUS340 Week 4 Discussion 1 Evaluating Sources

Hello Class,

The organization I chose to research is American Heart Association. This is an organization that seeks to help people with heart diseases to access physicians who can help them heal. I decided to use Google for my research. This type of research is called secondary research. According to Bovee and Thill (2018) secondary research entails reviewing research done previously for a different reason.

When I typed the name of the organization on Google, the following websites emerged:

This websites provides information about the works of the international Group Housing. It entails that the organization provides all-inclusive official housing exclusively serving the international medical community. With offices in Miami and Belgrade, our two international locations have enabled us to serve top agencies and major medical associations around the world for over 20 years. While this information was relevant to the topic of my search, it was an entirely different organization. As such, I could not rely on the information from this website.

The second one was, American Heart Association. (2019). American Heart Association. Retrieved from https://www.heart.org/ . This is the official website for the American Heart organization.

Third was a scholarly article, “Faculty of 1000 evaluation for Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics-2016 Update: A Report From the American Heart Association.” It describes evaluations of the interventions that have been done by American Heart Association. Being the official website for the organization, this was a critical source of information. It was reliable and valid source for the information I was looking for. Being a peer reviewed article, it contained reliable information to rely on in building my knowledge about the organization.

In conclusion, the two sources that emerged useful for the research were the official website for the organization and the scholarly article. Both were valid sources of information which I considered authentic and reliable.
