BUS340 Week 5 Discussion 1 Forecast Presentations

If I had to present a forecast that was the best available answer, but I wasn’t confident about the course of action, I would try to be as confident as possible before the audience. According to Yandell (2018), any communication discourse between a sales individual and the audience is a presentation and confidence plays an important role in enhancing presentation success. As Bovee & Thill (2018) note, business relies on courage to convince their clientele to believe in their course. In this light, I believe that my confidence would help me attract the attention of the audience to focus on the beneficial aspect of the forecast.

Secondly, while I may not believe in the course of action, the audience does not have to learn this from me. Instead, I should exude confidence in every word I say to help the audience believe in it. The central objective of most business communications especially the sales department is to convince. As a consequence, confidence is an imperative requirement in this realm. Bovee & Thill (2018) note that confidence relates to judgment about capability of the subject to deliver promised objective. Accordingly I broadly see it as a motivational factor for the audience to believe in what I communicate to them. In this light, it does not matter what I believe. What matters is the fact that the audience is ready to listen and that I am out to deliver the message to them. Circumstantially, communicating it confidently is of great importance.

One thing I would endeavor to achieve is clear any doubts the audience may have about the forecast I am presenting. Definitely, I have more information than the clients. As such, seeking to clear the air about anything he/she does not believe in would be of critical importance. This would rely heavily on the level of confidence in my presentation.
