Analysis of Personal Communication Skills Via an Assessment Introduction

The Assessment I Used

The ability to communicate successfully with our family, friends, coĀworkers, business associates, and other persons is one of the most crucial qualities one can have. It is of no use if someone does not know their associates in their workplace. For better or worse, depending on a person’s communication ability, communication allows us to identify others (Barker, 2010). It is also up to each of us to learn how to interact with those who are important and around us successfully. Our nonverbal clues, such as eye contact or lack thereof, are crucial. We all have good and terrible aspects of our communication styles, talents, and effectiveness when we communicate. This research focused on the feedback offered to the researcher throughout his tenure as a manager.

Communication skills are necessary for many aspects of our lives, including interactions with coĀworkers, family, and friends. Information is any item with meaning, and communication can be defined as the transmission, reception, and processing of that information (Barker, 2010). According to the observations, one needs to know all areas of communication from start to finish to be a skilled communicator because outstanding communication skills mean that the speaker is aware of his task as a communicator and can clearly express his message to others.

The gap

I looked up information about Personal Communication Assessment on the internet to evaluate my communication abilities, and I found it very convenient and easy to use. The study provided me with advice on how to improve my communication abilities. The website encourages one to take a series of brief tests to evaluate their abilities to communicate, and the sections are organized into four parts: talk, listen, write and read(Dasgupta et al., 2013). After the questions, the user is given a score that measures their communication skills. The findings show that communication abilities could be good or bad. With a score of 15Ā35, one must continue to improve their communication abilities, but a score of 36Ā55 indicates that one is a good communicator. A score of 56Ā75 indicates that one is an excellent communicator. I received a 52, indicating that I am a capable communicator who occasionally has communication issues.

The website states that pauses were occurring during message encoding and decoding in my communication (Barker, 2016). The site also recommends that knowing and understanding what I want to say and deciding how to deliver it verbally will be beneficial. In written communication, on the other hand, the site advises making sure that what one says is understood in the way that one intends. I got a 14 out of 20 on the decoding section, which means I should just listen and let the other person speak. This will enable me to decode and actively listen to the communication in the manner intended by the sender.

Additional training

Communication can appea to be straightforward, there is always the possibility of a lack of understanding when we try to communicate with others, which can lead to disagreements and disappointments in personal or professional relationships. I believe that it is crucial to assess what works for me so far in terms of more training to improve communication abilities (Dasgupta et al., 2013). In order to develop my communication abilities, when drafting messages, I will take a second to organize my thoughts and transfer the message, and I will understand how the recipient sees the message. Before I write messages, I should go back and reread them.

Improving current communication skills

I would use companyĀsupported training like eĀlearning to increase my communication skills, and that would be tremendously helpful to prepare for advancement in my career as a Store Manager. In fact, using charts regularly while providing my team with information would help to communicate messages effectively and provide a clear picture of the vision. I also need more training on my listening skills to improve on my communication skills, that means that I have to learn how to pay attention to words being spoken, how they are being spoken and also the non verbal messages that comes with it.

Conclusion

In our life, communication is the most vital component. To live a fuller and happier life with those around us, expressing one’s views and feelings is critical. We suffer less and feel better about everything around us if we converse more with others. As a result, learning the skill and art of effective communication is even more critical for communicating someone’s message effectively.
