BUS600 Week 3 Discussion Forum 2

Effective Body Language for Organizational Success.

Value of nonverbal communication in virtual setting

Nonverbal communication in our life is crucial because it enhances our ability to relate, participate and communicate meaningfully (Citarella, 2021). Nonverbal communication, sometimes referred to as body language, can take multiple forms and be accepted in various ways. Even without these nonverbal indices, nonverbal communication can be important and constitute nonverbal communication itself.

Nonverbal cues and atmospheric can be a destruction in a virtual meeting

Nonverbal communication plays an important role in repetition, contradiction, substitution, complementing, and accenting (Maloney et al., 2020). The remote interaction of nonverbal cues can give an impact when it comes to the understanding of everyone. It is necessary to ask everyone to confirm the understanding to prevent unwanted results.

How to prepare for a virtual meeting

Participants simply require a few items to participate in virtual meetings: an Internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone (either through their computer speakers or over the phone). This makes it simple for anyone, regardless of their position, to host and participate in virtual meetings.

Destructive behaviors during a meeting

The connection is one of the distractions when you are doing everything in a virtual meeting. We communicate a great deal through touch or physical connection to the other person we are talking to.

Awareness of body languages and actions during a meeting

If you keep touching your face during the meeting, it’s a sign that you’re worried. You don’t want to come across as insecure or frightened when attending a virtual meeting.

Keep eye contact in a virtual meeting as well as face-to-face meetings. Make sure to make eye contact even if you’re not speaking directly to the people you’re talking to.
