Module 7 Assignment
Southern New Hampshire UniversityThe speech in Bringing Baths into the 21st Century was an interesting one. The speaker had an idea and was an inventor and his speech lacked critical pieces in the speech. From an informative perspective, the speaker could have given more background on his bathroom product. He could have used the power of a story to give a background of how he decided to create it and why it is important. The speech was just a general idea of the product but it was not informative or even lengthy. When the speaker said, āthank youā (SNHU, 2021), The dragonās den was silent as they were expecting some more information. As an audience, I was also expecting to hear more but it was disappointing. The speaker had too much pride which was not a bother but he was self-centered and talked about how he was a genius and also how it cost him a lot of money to make the smart bath. The speaker should have talked more about his product and less about himself as the important thing here and the main purpose is to get the investment for his business. The speaker forgot the purpose of the presentation and also forgot his audience in terms of respect.
In a persuasive manner, just as the investor was not convinced to invest 100 million, who would? The speaker was asked on how he would use the money, and he did not have any presentation behind him as a visual aid. In businesses, there are always projections and graphs to show growth rate and also numbers to show expenditure. The speaker could have his numbers and also share them well with meaningful use of the money. The first thing he mentions was an office in a luxurious location. The speaker did not explain more about how this product would be different from others in the market.
What I used to listen to the video is, I focused on the video. I watched the movement of the speaker which he did, he also had open arms which meant he was inviting conversations however he kept cutting off the investors. I also looked at his facial expression and noticed he was full of pride and pride comes before a fall. I also observed the background and noticed when the speaker turned off the water on the iPad it still ran for a few seconds before it stopped. I also observed the investorās expressions and noticed they were not convinced. They even kept asking more questions to get clarity but they were not getting the response they were hoping to hear. The tone kept changing and escalating and this was not a good sign. The presentation was poorly thought out and the speaker could have done much better.
