Police have been identified as many other things other than protectors. This term has been associated with negative terms. Police body cam policies will assist clear the negatives and offer better criminal justice. People know that when police body cams are worn the police and citizens will start to act better since they know they are being recorded (White et al, 2020). As police have been identified to be brutal not all of them but police brutality is a common word and mostly also associated with Black Lives Matter.

The use of body cams is one way to reduce police brutality (Jespersen, K 2021). According to Cynthia Lum and other researchers, body-worn cameras will assist in building the relationship between the citizens and the police force. The use of body-worn cameras will provide clear evidence and build trust between the citizens and the police (Lum, C et al,2019). There is a movie on Netflix called black and blue where a policewoman is able to witness the murder of a kid killed by the police. The policewoman had a body camera on and was able to record everything. This was one way of assisting her clear her name as she was the one who was framed for the murder by the corrupt officials. The video from the body cam helped clear her name and also exposed the corrupt officials (Netflix, 2019). The body cam policies have also seen a major interest in the facial recognition feature in body-worn cameras. This will help monitor and assist in identifying criminals (Bromberg et al, 2020). The use of body cams will not only ensure that there is safety for the citizens and better police treatment but it will also add to the protection of the police and the police image.
