GEN103 Week 4 - Discussion 1- The CRAAP Test

Currency:

The article I found was put out in 2007. The article may not be very current but still relevant to my essay because it gives examples of strategies that can work well in the Classroom because they have been used by other teachers and have proven to work but if I wanted it for statistics I wouldn’t use them.

Relevance:

The given information is relevant to my essay because it give specific strategies that can be used in the classroom that is what I am looking for they were create by teachers and have been proven to enhance students learning of information literacy. It !makes for a good non scholarly source.

Authority:

This is were I have problem with the site it is an article written to give teachers useful strategies to enhance their teaching but they ask for donations or have products for sale. So definitely bias can play a part of what is put in the article.. I would definitely use this as a non- scholarly contribution to enhance an essay. Whenever money is involved it is important to double check facts and proceed with caution.

Accuracy:

I think the accuracy is pretty straight forward and would have no one no problem using this as a source for specific for specific strategies to try on the classroom and if I was wanting to buy products and games I would definitely use this for that these are games and tools created for teachers to help them enhancing the students learning experience.

Purpose:

It all comes down to exactly how I am going to use it in the essay. Since I want it for the strategies that I can with students it will work well as a non-scholarly contribution because they were created based on ones that have stood the test of time.

Overall in putting this to the CRAAP test I would have no problem in using this on my essay and would probably buy some of the products at some point. So the article did what it was intended to. It is an advertisement and were tea hers can go to buy educational tools.
