Week 4: Data Management

1. Data mapping -Is the process of connecting one data field to another. It removes errors, standardizes your data, and correlates it for a more straightforward understanding. It identifies private data. For example, Coop Allianz in Italy has 3 million users and 430 stores. The company wanted to merge client, commodity, and revenue information for a full 360-degree view of the customer without compromising GDPR compliance (Donaldson & Koepke, 2022). By using Software MDM, the company can find and handle customer data across various systems, safeguarding Personally identifiable information even while using it to deliver customized customer experiences.

2. Data warehousing- is the process of using data in the data warehouse. Data warehouses integrate data from various heterogeneous information to help determine the validity, organized and ad - hoc basis queries, and decision-making. Cleaning, integrating, and consolidating data are part of data warehousing (Donaldson & Koepke, 2022). Example In health care, the warehouse is often used to predict the outcome, generate patient treatment reports, and share data with insurance providers, medical support services, Etc.

  1. Data element- serves as the foundational unit of information. It is a data processing system. Account name, identity, address, and city are just a few examples of data elements. A data element is specified by its size (in character) and kind (alphanumeric, numeric). The definition may also include a specified system of values or a range of values.
