HSCI 705 Assignment Mission, Visons, and Value Statement

Name

Liberty Universityā€ƒ

As a doctoral student, having a vision, mission and value statement is imperative, as it will frame my work as a student and future researcher. When I think of what I would like my statements to be, I think about my upbringing in church and how my parents laid the framework for me as a child. My parents made sure that I treated everyone that I met, with the upmost respect and love. Moving throughout my adult years, I treat everyone the same, we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and because of that fact, I respect everyone that I encounter and treats everyone the way that I would like to be treated.

As a researcher, and a follower of Christ, the ability to create and foster healthy relationships by giving others the chance to grow is a crucial part of assisting and empowering others. This is followed closely by the capacity to mentor and lead groups of people the way Jesus did. Making sure research is ethical is a huge part of the research process. After the atrocities of the Nuremberg War crimes were revealed, it was apparent that something had to change. According to Bulger 3, ā€œTo prevent future harm to subjects of human studies, instruct investigators about the ethical precepts needed to protect subjects, and delineate the responsibilities of investigators to carry out these goals, a set of ten principles was developed by the war crime staff. It came to be called the Nuremberg Code.ā€. Due to the many ethical issues in the early days of scientific research, a lot of people do not thoroughly trust the scientific processes. Bulger 53, the scientific method is widely assumed to be a powerful and self-correcting device for understanding the world as it is and making sense of nature.ā€

Mission

As a new doctoral student, I will work tirelessly to acquire the knowledge needed to be successful in my field and to help everyone that I encounter. I will work to inspire individuals around me and build a diverse network of individuals that will come together and help solve issues. I will use this time working towards my doctorate to help better define my passion where my skills are best suited. I will become the person God has intended for me to be. I will use my knowledge, skills, and passion to inspire hope to the hopeless and be a beacon of light shining in the darkness. “For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37).

Vision

I envision being recognized in my field as an honest, sympathetic, and significant leader.

I am dedicated to emerging as a leader and adding value to my field and community.

I realize that seeing this vision come to pants it will take a lot of work, countless hours, and a lot of dedication. I am fully invested into seeing this vision become a reality team, Jesus this is a vision that God has placed in my heart, and I know their work without faith is dead and I am committed to the hard work that this will take. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

(James 1:2-4).

Values

Despite my imperfections thank you, I am here to make a difference not only for my loved ones but for the community that I reside in. My research will represent my values and will allow me to enhance the lives of individuals within my community and beyond. Bulger 16, ā€œSome examples of ethical values particularly relevant to the biohealth Sciences are truthfulness, trust trustworthiness, stewardship, autonomy, and the avoidance of harm.ā€

As a researcher, your values are imperative to the ethical part of your research. You must be honest, accountable and have integrity. I have worked in the healthcare field for over ten years, and I have had to integrity and accountable with every patient that I encountered. In terms of how they apply to the profession of healthcare, define integrity and accountability. A virtue that includes soundness, devotion to moral standards, and the capacity to defend oneself when challenged or attacked is known as honesty. The name “honesty” was used to define this virtue. Consistency, appropriate moral principles, and regular honesty are required for this. The unique characteristic of incorporating honesty and following to the prescribed procedures of professionalism is how integrity in this healthcare context may be characterized. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9).

Conclusion

In conclusion, having these statements will provide the framework needed for me to successfully navigate this program as well as my career. I can only assume, that as I dive deeper into this class and program, that my vision mission and value statements we’ll expand. Since I am so new into this program, I am still trying to fine tune my passion and I know that with God’s guidance, prayer, and meditation, my vision will become clearer, and my passion will become evident. I have worked in the healthcare field for over a decade, and I love helping individuals I may not be the one saving lives per se, but my input coupled with my expertise is a huge factor. The bible speaks of determination, one of my favorite verses, ā€œYou will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.ā€ (2 Chronicles 20:17) This verse has gotten me through many trails and tribulations and I know that this will be my go to verse when difficulties arises in this program and in my career.
