INF103 Week 2 - Discussion 1-Copyright and Fair Use

Intellectual property is protected under copy right law once it is formed. The owner can then share, upload, distribute but others require special permission to do so. Copyright is the law in that ones work will not be redistributed without permission. This can apply to an article, song or even a play. It is important to understand copyright so you do not end up plagiarizing works.

Under some circumstances fair use can be applicable. Fair use means that the information can be used for parodies, research and education. It has meet criteria to be accepted as fair use, it is judged on the character you are using the information, the nature of copyrighted work, and the amount that you plan to use.

In the event that copy right expires or does not meet the criteria for copyright law, it is public domain. Public domain is information that is obtainable and can be redistributed by the public.
