INF103 Week 2 Discussion 2 Searching for Information

What are the benefits of using search engines, such as Google, Yahoo!, or Bing? What are some of the limitations and dangers of using information that is widely available on the Web?

Well, to answer the first question there are a lot of benefits to utilizing search engines such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing. The benefits is that when you want to find general information on the internet these are the best for it. They search based on popularity and try guess what it is you’re looking for. They are up to date on all current events and easy to access a lot of information.

To answer the second question, one of the dangers is that it’s not very safe to utilize depending on what it is you’re searching for. Unless you are on a secured website or internet browser then your mobile devices are pretty vulnerable to hackers. One of the limitations to utilizing these is that not all information is  very accurate and you can come across a lot of bias information. When utilizing search engines for research papers, it’s not highly recommended. You’re better off using a database.

These are just a few limitations, dangers, and benefits of utilizing these search engines.
