  1. Why do people use soaps and surfactants when washing?

People use soaps and surfactants in the attempt to clean and disinfect there body and clothes. Hot water has a limit on what it will or can clean. Dirt and other impure item can be easily removed. In some instances minimum scrubbing is required. Soap can also be used as a lubricant.
