  1. A star topography is what uses a hub or a switch to connect all the network pieces into one central location. The name is due to it looking like a star or starfish. These sorts of networks best work in

small areas.

  1. Peer-to-peer models of network are relatively more autonomous than other designs. The allows computers to share resources with one another while also allowing them to be in charge of their

respective resources.

  1. Personal area networks (PAN) are generally composed of devices connected via Bluetooth. They are also unsecured most of the time as the surface area is very small. The number of devices is

normally 2-6.

  1. The internet is the world’s largest public network. It is a behemoth that supports millions of subnetworks on it and can be used by

anyone.

  1. Network protocols are rules that exist on the network for device communication. I tcan be parameters such as matching IPs or passwords. Protocols allows for structure and security on the

network.

  1. The Internet is a free open-to-the public network. An Intranet is conceptually the same as the internet, it shares information between computers, but it is SPECIFIC to an organization. So, a specific company will implement an intranet separate from the

internet for security purposes.

  1. The extranet is the bridge in between the two. It allows access on the intranet to specific, authorized users in order to conduct business. This exists so e-commerce can be performed.
