IT190 UNIT 6 DISCUSSION-Processors

Hello…

I’m still learning about processors, so I don’t know the exact specifics to look for when searching for a new CPU. Usually when I look for a new processor, I look at how much memory space it has, the speed and the price of the laptop.

I reviewed the following processors:

IntelĀ® Coreā„¢ i3-6320 Processor. It has 4.0 MB Cache, 3.90 GHz in clock speed and 2 cores with 4 threads. It comes with 64 GB memory and 8 GT Bus Speed. It costs between $149.00 - $157.00.

IntelĀ® Coreā„¢ i3-6100T Processor. 3.0 MB Cache, 3.20 GHz in clock speed and 2 cores with 4 threads. It comes with 64 GB memory and 8 GT Bus Speed. It costs apprx. $117.00.

IntelĀ® Coreā„¢ i3-6098P Processor. It has 3.0 MB Cache, 3.60 GHz in clock speed and 2 cores with 4 threads. It comes with 64 GB memory and 8 GT Bus Speed. It Costs apprx. $ $117.00.

Between the 3 processors I reviewed, I would purchase the IntelĀ® Coreā„¢ i3-6320 Processor. I believe this is the faster processor and is also affordable. I could use this computer to process multiple tasks and use it to run program software, play games, and a variety of applications.

Thanks,

Ada

Benchmarking

You want to purchase a new system but need to decide which CPU (processor) best fits your needs. Using the Web, research several different CPU benchmarking reports. Compare specifications for the CPUs including number of cores, clock speed, cache size, front side bus transfer rates, and cost. Share the information from at least 3 different CPUs with your classmates (summarize the information, do not copy and paste), then identify the CPU you would choose and explain why. Be sure to try to find benchmarking reports that simulate the types of programs you would be using most often. Remember to provide citations for your research.

Then, review some of your classmates’ choices. Based on their reasons for choosing their specific computer, do you agree with their choice? Why or why not? Is there anything that you think additional they should consider in their assessment?

Your first post should be on or before Saturday and a minimum of 100 words. Include a link to any site you used to help you respond to the question. Make sure you respond substantively to at least two classmates
