MGT302 Discussion 2 Week 3 Dispatch Rules

Which dispatch rule do you normally use when deciding which job to do next (or the order of completing assigned tasks)?

When it comes to my day to day task, I tend to do what is more important first. I will start with laying out my daughter’s clothes and getting her ready for school. Once she is dropped off, I will start with my housework and then move to anything that needs to be done outside. This gives it time to warm up a little bit outside before I try to go out and cut the grass or clean out the car. Once I finish outside, I will work on my homework while watching TV. Since I am a stay at home mom, I must make sure that I prep meals before I pick up my daughter from school and my husband goes to work for the night.

What if you changed your dispatch rule?

If I was to change up my daily routine it would mess up my morning flow with getting my daughter ready for school and making sure she is one time. I could wake up earlier and work in the yard, but it would be cool out and there is a possibility of have dew on the ground which would not work out if I was mowing the yard. As far as cleaning out the car it would be just fine doing that.

Would doing so alter the way your complete work and improve your performance?

Doing this would not improve my performance because I must do thing in a certain order to make sure that my daughter is at school on time. I also need to make sure that my husband has food for work and my daughter has dinner ready at a certain time so she can do her homework and get ready for bed at 9 o’clock. If I was to put off preparing the food before she gets out of school, it might delay that amount of time she has to do her homework and play and bathe before bed.
