MGT330 Assignment Week 4 Team Management Activity and Reflection

A performer in a teamer needs management skills to lead a larger team to deliver on set goals. In this light, being promoted to the position of management to lead 100 people would need that I am able to plan, organize, staff, control and lead the team towards the accomplishment of the set goals. To this end, this management plan lays down my plan towards ensuring Amazon Company branch assigned to me in a new location attains set objectives.

Planning

Planning is one of the major functions of the management. It involves determining what needs to be done and laying out the plan through which it is to be attained. As the manager in the newly established plant planning the undertakings of the branch will be of critical importance. As Dudovskiy (2018) notes, Amazon is a highly hierarchical organization. Employees are expected to follow an established organization culture that ensures a uniformity of the service delivery. Keeping up with the expectations of the organization will need proper planning in a bid to get the 100 employees following the organization culture.

One of the major steps in the process of planning is setting of goals. According to Baack, Reilly and Minnick (2014), the realization of the need for action enables the team players to enthusiastically engage in the organizational activities. As such, planning on how my teams will deliver high quality customer service experience as is the culture of the organization will be one of my first engagements. In line with what Baack, Reilly and Minnick (2014) call a consultative engagement of all stakeholders; I will work with the team members to ensure that all team objectives are set in accordance with the bigger picture of the entire organization.alternatives for the customer. Therefore, I will work with the employees to plan for alternative course of action in case the set plans experience flaws that may derail the adherence to the organizational culture. As a team, a stipulation on when the alternative measures should be engaged will be made to ensure that the body is prepared to make the target delivery.

Organizing

Organizing entails allocation of resources in a bid to foster accomplishment of the plans. One of the most important resources at Amazon Company is the human resource. In this case, I will be in charge of 100 employees. I will ensure that they are assigned teams. Each team of ten employees will be in charge of a particular function in the organization. All the teams will be linked by the overall goals of the organization (Vardi, 2017). Therefore, while the ten teams will dependent on each other. As such, rewarding and motivation strategies for the employees will be organized in a way that ensures interdependence and valuing of what each player does. This will be a critical beginning for the members such that no one among the members will feel inadequate or even more valuable than the other. A given level of uniformity and interrelationship will be established to ensure that all members work in like a team.to it the achievement of the set goals. In this light, I would suggest the need to ensure that management be charged with the duty of training the employees. In this course, training instills the skills that the employees need to achieve their set goals. These skills are vital especially in an organization such as Amazon which depends on the abilities of the employees to be innovative on how to satisfy the customers all the time.

Staffing

Staffing refers to the commitment to having the right talent to dispense various duties of the organization. The talent recruited for different positions ought to work within the framework set through the organizational structure. On this note, my obligation of selecting the light persons and assigning the tasks would be guided by the organizational structure. According to Baack, Reilly and Minnick (2014), innovative capabilities form part of the most integral section of the organization. Having the right minded staff and encouraging innovations boosts the company’s faith in the employee project hence working towards creation of projects that are larger. This mounts to support for the works of the employees.

According to the bigger dreams of the organization, I would suggest that the selection of the talent be based entirely on the open mindedness of the talent. In this view, having the members selected on the basis of their willingness to participate in the innovative process of the organization will be critical. Most importantly, spotting the most competitive talents would place the organization in the best position to attain the set goals. This would be of critical importance for the success of the entire organization. It would make it easy to realize theCoordination of the talents and their teams does not only need the management skills but leaders from their followers through the distribution of powers within the organization. While this kind of leadership is critical due to the size of the organization and the need to have every branch delivering, I would also use some blended form of leadership. In this light, I would introduce my followers to a transformational leadership model. In this light, I would ensure that commitment to deliver quality services to the customers would begin with me. This way, I would work as a mentor to the 100 employees. Among them each team would he headed by an experienced employee who would facilitate others to deliver on their works appropriately (Gleeson, 2017). This would be critical to ensure that the target goals are both uniform and delivered in time.

Controls

As the manager, I would also be in charge of entire process towards delivery. According to Giltinane, C. L. (2013), controlling involves making sure that the performance of the organization is aligned with the set objectives. Therefore, the manger ensures that monitoring is done to ensure that the employees are working towards attaining the set objectives. Closely monitoring the progress at a step by step level enables the manager to keep track of the progress. This commitment to the progress enable timely decision making on what needs to be changed as well as availing the correct resources for the employees to deliver on their mandate.

In the process of controlling, the manager is responsible for establishing standards of performance. In our case, the previous year performance of the organization spells the standard to which the new teams should measure up to. As the manager, it would be my duty to align the motivation, commitment and enthusiasm of the members to ensure that we keep the standard as high as other branches have set. With this, it would be critical to have the members commit to the course that would ensure our success is attained.Indeed, committing to the five functions of a manager would ensure that my new team of 100 employees attains its objectives. Commitment to consultative and all inclusive measures when working with the people would ensure the planning is done perfectly. Organizing how these plans would be achieved and providing the right resources in accordance with the set objectives of the organization and the culture would be critical. Its primacy would hinge on the ability of the people to work voluntarily and in a motivated way courtesy of the leadership. Succeeding in leadership would be dependent on the commitment of the members to the organization culture which will in turn be founded on the way they are led and guided on a daily basis.
