Age Discrimination in Employment Act has had serious impacts in the hiring process in the United States. It has impact both on the cases raised by workers and the hiring strategies used by the organizations (National Bureau of Economic Research, 2019). On the one hand, it has influenced the organizations to come up with strategic methods of ensuring that people do not extend their working years. For example, some organizations coined a payment strategy that ensured that although they entered into long-term working contracts with the workers, they paid them better in their youthful days when they are fully productive while low payment are encountered during their old age. As such, this worked as a discouragement against the workers seeking to remain in their positions at the old age.
On the other hand, it reduced the cases of mandatory retirement imposed by employers on old employees. As such, it served as a ground for workers to claim for compensation in case they were relieved off their duties due to the issue of age. As such, the Act has had critical impact on the considerations organizations make when considering the hiring policies.
Social Security disability insurance
Social Security disability insurance is a government program that requires organizations to provide security cover for individuals who may not be in a position to perform specific physical duties at their place of work (Yin, 2014). While the number of cases of payment both to specific workers and their families have been on the increase with the increase of women employment in the US, the organization have worked on the process of reducing workers that are engaged in physical tasks. As such, replacement of human with machines and automation has highly been recommended in the process of lowering the cost accruing from this program. Moreover, most organizations consider the age of the talents sought to ensure that the cost is minimized as much as possible.
