MGT330 Discussion 2 Week 5 Changes in Management

Hello Class,

Among the five functions of the management, the one that is likely to experience most dramatic changes is staffing. Reilly, Minnick, & Baack, (2011) state the staffing function will experience changes as per the demands of the environment. This means that staffing function ought to regulate with the surrounding environment that affects the labor market. One of the major influencing factors is advancements in the field of technology. As technology changes, advancement towards replacing people with machine in the process of automation is real. As such, most companies are changing their staffing policies to befit the situation. This makes it possible for the organization to remain up to date. As well, the need for innovation in the contemporary times has necessitated some vigor in the process of finding talent. This makes it possible to ensure that the performance is maintained at its best. As Reilly, Minnick, & Baack, (2011) has noted, the concept of globalization cannot be underestimated in the modern times. It demands attention and the areas that bears the most is the one that involves people—staffing.

On the other hand, the controlling function is the least one affected in changes. Controlling is determined by the management policies as well as the organizational goals. As long as these factors are settled on, the function is not always influenced by the changes happening in the environment.
