Week 1 – Journal

The organization I work for recognizes the significance of leadership as a platform that leads to competitive advantage. As a consequence, the five functions of management are fulfilled with a high level of coordination among all players. Planning, for example, is done with full inclusion of all members of the teams. The process begins with the executives who come up with ideas. These ideas are then passed on to the employees. The aim is to seek informed position on the feasibility of the plans at an individual level.

I acknowledge that this type of management had a critical impact on me when I first joined the company. I felt valued. This boosted my motivation and satisfaction at work. Additionally, the organization and participation of the all players is encouraged during the organization and controlling functions. This makes it possible to keep all people focused onto the great chances of success available.

The only aspect that is done with some level of secrecy at the organization is staffing. The task of identifying and selection of remarkable talents at the organization is a continuous process at the organization. It is often done by the executive them communicated to the human resource department.

One thing I would do differently is the function of guiding activities towards success. In this course, I would ensure that there is a clear, strong and effective communication system. Although there are consultations in our organization, there are only three meeting in a year. The rest are departmental meetings. As such, I would introduce an information system that encourages perpetual exchange of information among all people at the organization.
