Profile Essay – Andrew Johnson’s Construction

Andrew Johnson opened his construction business in 1983. The business remodels residential homes, churches, and small commercial buildings. The business is also a builder of custom room additions for more than 20 years and specializes in fire and smoke restoration. Andrew Johnson is a small business owner and a well involved advocate in the community. The purpose of this paper is to explain how Andrew’s business has been success and the key why we should support our small business owners.

The North County Community has been around for a long time. “North County Incorporated (NCI) was founded in 1977 and represents the 47 municipalities and unincorporated area in North St. Louis County. As an economic and community development advocacy organization serving North County, we focus on economic development, education, healthcare, infrastructure and transportation needs.” There are a lot of new developments with housing and business. A lot of the people who have lived in this neighborhood have either lived there for years or have recently moved in. It’s one of those places where you move to and just stay. The area offers 2 A+ Rated School Districts. Most of individuals are college educated and are middle or high class. There are over a total of 400,000 people who reside in the community.

Andrew Johnson has been an advocate in the community by connecting with municipalities and business leaders across the North St. Louis County. Andrew has collaboration has worked toward growth in the community and economic development with the housing. Since Andrew, revamped his business model he was able to keep up with the changes of time. Andrew has a contract with the county to rebuild residential homes and commercial businesses in need of fire restoration. Andrew is also rents residential homes to out to people in the community.

Andrew Johnson is my uncle. I personally have been on jobs with him to fix homes, pick up lumber, give estimates, etc. I always enjoyed watching the effort and pride he took into his work and the respect his employees showed him. The relationships that he is able to build with people in the community and community leaders are based off his quality of work and personality. A lot of people feel comfortable knowing that they have someone from the same place as where they are from.
