Walmart’s mission statement is ā€œto save people money so they can live better.ā€

State How the Mission Statement Provides Guidance for The Company’s Organizational Activities

Walmart’s mission statement offers guidance as to how their consumers can save money by choosing purchasing from them. In this, by guiding on how to save money, customers can live a better life.

Evaluating Walmart’s Mission Statement per every four questions posed in the Hull Article and the assigned reading for the week

According to Hull (2013), a mission statement should answer four questions. That is,

• What do we do?

• How do we do it?

• Whom do we do it for?

• What value are we bringing?

Evaluating the mission statement:

What do we do? Based on Walmart’s mission statement, the company strives to help people live a better life by saving money on goods.

How do we do it? With Walmart’s new slogan, “Save Money. Live Better. Just as the slogan states, Walmart strives to offer products with low prices to enable its customers to save money and live better.

Whom do we do it for? Being a global company with several branches all over, anyone who accesses to Walmart’s store in any of their stores has a chance to save money and live better.

Therefore, whom they are doing it for is all their customers globally.

What value are we bringing? Walmart brings a better life to the average customer by offering goods on low price. Therefore, when consumers purchase products at low prices, they save money.

Rating Walmart’s mission, I would rate it 3 star. It is because, in their mission, there is no

2 clear explanation of how their customers will save money. Besides, their mission statements do not inform customers what the company does as a business. Hence, just like other large

3 companies, Walmart’s mission statement is vague and doesn’t say much. Their mission does not

help to distinguish them from their competitors.
